Paul C. Mattson was a designer for Carr China from 1934 to 1937. It is believed that anything backstamped with a version of Mattson's signature was a sample. The -M- is Paul Mattson's signature and the Jan. 2, 1935, date corresponds to his time at the Carr plant. Click here to see a design that seems to be related – by style if not customer – that was produced a couple of months earlier.
White body plate with a dark green pinstripe around the outer edge of the rim. Around the rim are three drawings of stylized orange-red roses complete with green thorned stems and green leaves. Interestingly the dark green pinstripe has a single thorn protruding from the stripe midway between each drawing.
