Manufacturer: Carr China Company
Pattern: Carr Mystery Pattern 5
Date of plate: Unknown
Notes: Carr's pattern name and number are unknown for this pattern with its Art Deco ornaments spaced around the rim of this small plate. However, it was a very popular pattern made by at least three American china manufacturers, including Syracuse, Buffalo and Fraunfelter.
When made by Buffalo, it was called Northwestern, and both the Buffalo and Fraunfelter versions were called Depot Ornaments by the Chicago & Northwestern Railway, which used it in their Chicago dining room.
Editor's note: This entry comes from the Carr China website whose content has been transferred to the IDwiki. An effort was made on that site to capture as many examples produced by Carr as possible, and for that reason they might include more mystery patterns and topmarked pieces, or those that might not ordinarily be thought of strictly speaking as restaurant ware.
