Manufacturer: Scammell China
User: The Carter Hotel, Cleveland, Ohio
Date of service plate: 1928 – 1932
Notes: Completed in 1916, this 11-story, 600-room hotel started out as the Hotel Winton, named after the head of the Winton Motorcar Co. In 1932, it was named the Carter Hotel after Lorenzo Carter, the area's first resident.
From 1959 to the early 1970s, it was the Pick-Carter Hotel. In 1972, it became Carter Manor, a home for low-income and disabled people. In late 2004, the former Carter Manor received a facelift, a new tenant policy to screen residents, and a new name: Winton Manor with 270 units.
