Manufacturer: Syracuse China
User: Cheyenne Lodge
Stock pattern (sans crest): Franklin
Date of plate: 1926
Notes: Opened in 1926 at the top of Cheyenne Mountain by Spencer Penrose, owner of the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, CO. Cheyenne Lodge may be an old part of the Broadmoor that was used for entertainment and dining. Looking like an Native-American Pueblo, it was located above the Broadmoor.
The following information was taken from the Colorado Springs Gazette: "Spencer Penrose of The Broadmoor hotel fame built a toll road up Cheyenne Mountain in 1925 so that people could gaze down on his hotel complex. Area residents objected to him scarring the mountain for what they considered a self-serving motive so he built a spectacular pueblo-style lodge at the top. … Cheyenne Lodge was popular with honeymooners and tourists but also was open to residents for summer lunches and accommodations until it was torn down in 1956."
