Manufacturer: Carr China Company
User: Gamma Phi Beta
Date of plate: circa 1934 – 1952
Notes: The Gamma Phi Beta sorority was founded Nov. 11, 1874, at Syracuse University.
The colors of this plate – dark brown on a Glo-Tan body – don't seem particularly appropriate for a 19th century women's group, but it's interesting to note that one of their colors, brown, honors the group's early mentor at Syracuse University, Dr. John J. Brown. (See image above, appropriated from the group's website.)
