Manufacturer: John Maddock & Sons, Ltd.
User: Grouse Mountain Chalet
Date of Creamer: circa 1920s – 1930s
Notes: Located on the plateau of Grouse Mountain (north of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada), this beautiful log chalet with a hand-split cedar shake roof was built in 1926 by a crew composed mostly of Swedes, Norwegians and Finns for the Grouse Mountain Highway and Scenic Resort Ltd. The interior was of rough-hewn logs complemented by naturally curving stairwells, arches and a great stone fireplace. The dishes, stationery and bedroom lampshades proudly displayed the chalet's grouse emblem. The Chalet fell on hard times during the depression and closed during WWII; sadly the chalet burned down in 1962.
