Manufacturer: Buffalo China
User: Harry Howell Restaurant
Pattern/Body: Lune Lamelle
Date of plate: 1930s
Notes: Located at 228 West Adams Street, Jacksonville, Fla., the Harry Howell Restaurant advertised as having Florida's finest air-conditioned restaurant and cocktail lounge — perhaps a novelty of the era — it was also the "Home of Real Coffee."
There is published information that proprietor Harry Howell was also the same Harry Howell who had a 12-year major league pitching career from 1898-1910. However, Harry Howell's granddaughter confirmed in August 2012 that her grandfather was not a baseball player and that the published information linking proprietor Harry Howell to baseball player Harry Taylor Howell is inaccurate.
Lune Lamelle body, topmarked with Harry Howell and motif of a marlin fish, palm tree and sunset.
