Notes: The company, located on Broad Street, Richmond, VA was built in the Colonial style around 1950. Home Beneficial was acquired by a division of AIG in 1998. It was one of the largest, if not the largest, home service life insurance companies in the US. Home service life insurance is life insurance issued to individuals, usually in small amounts, in which the premiums are due weekly or monthly. Traditionally, the premiums were collected by the insurance agent through visits to the insured's home, like a newspaper carrier might do. Nowadays, most are collected via mail or bank draft.
