Manufacturer: Syracuse China
User: International House, New Orleans
Date of celery: 1960
Notes: In 1943, businessman Archie Jewell converted a former 12-story bank, built in 1906 and located at 221 Camp Street in New Orleans, into the International House. It was a forerunner of the World Trade Center concept, dedicated to world peace and trade. In addition to offices and meeting rooms, it contained several dining rooms.
In 1998, the building was converted into the International House Hotel.
Syracuse produced china for International House that replaced Scammell's original crested design produced in 1943. The Syracuse version contains two globes with "IH" between them, and "International House" below. A green dove carrying an olive branch ornament is placed opposite the globe logo. A red line at the rim completes the design.
