Manufacturer: Greenwood Pottery
User: Believed to be the K-9 Club
Distributor: Burley & Company, Hotel Dept., Chicago
Date of plate: 1910 -1915
Notes: The K-9 Club was located at 105 E. Walton Place, Chicago, Ill., referenced in this online Chicagomag.com article, The Gay '30s. According to a 1932 Time magazine story, the club was popular among artists and according to another web reference, clarinetist Johnny Dodds even moved into Mrs. Cohen's K-9 Club for a few months in 1930.
The plate has a rust brown border pattern interrupted at the top by a long-eared hound dog – probably a bloodhound – which has a chain around its neck.
