Manufacturer: Carr China Company
User: Knights Templar – Ivanhoe Commandery
Date of plate: 1940
Notes: From the Wikipedia, "The Knights Templar is an international philanthropic chivalric order affiliated with Freemasonry." It is open only to Freemasons who believe in Christianity. "A local Knights Templar commandery operates under a state-level Grand Commandery, however American commanderies also operate under The Grand Encampment of the United States. This is unique among American Masonic bodies, as most report to the state level alone."
This plate was evidently ordered to recognize the Bramwell, West Virginia commandery's golden jubilee in 1940.
White body plate with a wide dark burgundy stripe around the outer edge. At the top rim of the plate in Old English font are the words "Ivanhoe Commandery No 10 K.T.". At the bottom rim in matching font are the words "-1890 – Bramwell. West Virginia. – 1940 – " . In the center of the well in shades of burgundy is a simplified version of the Knights Templar logo consisting of a cross and crown within a circle on top of a cross pattee (type of Christian cross) with the four words "HOC", "SIGNO", "VINCES", and "NI" on top of each arm of the cross pattee.
