Located at "19933 Lake Chabot Road, Castro Valley, was opened as a proprietary hospital in April of 1960. It was originally a 33 bed surgical hospital guided by doctors who practiced medicine of dentistry in the Haywood Area.

"In 1963 it was expanded into a 78 bed general hospital, offering care to adult medical and surgical patients, and to pediatric surgical patients."

As of 1986, Laurel Grove Hospital was owned by Eden Township Hospital District. By 2009, it was a rehabilitation hospital with 31 beds and was described as "seismically obsolete" in a Sutter Medical Center, Castro Valley Replacement Hospital Project proposal that planned to demolish it. However, as of 2023, it is listed as a long-term care center at the same address, and owned by Sutter Health.

The coupe plate has a stylized drawing of a laurel (or bay) leaf placed vertically near the edge, in brown. On the left side of the leaf, also in brown, are the capital letters L and G placed one over the other. On the right side of the leaf is the lower case letter h. Keyword: LGh
