Notes: Located at 3100 Railroad Ave., Bismark, the North Dakota State Penitentiary opened in 1884. It is not known if this china was used in the prison staff's dining room or by prisoners.
White body plate with blue verge pin line. Center marked with the circular Great Seal of the State of North Dakota, with N. D. P. in the lower part of the circular seal in Blue #6 transfer.
This is a Syracuse China production sample plate from the collection of Fishs Eddy in New York City. The sample sticker on the front of the plate, shown above, is marked Approved Sample for N. Dakota Pen; Orig. Order No. 36354 with the date and customer information.
