Notes: The Parker Meridien is a luxury midtown Manhattan hotel located at 119 West 56th Street, New York City. It features 731 spacious rooms and suites with breathtaking views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline.
The Jack Parker Corporation opened the Parker Meridien in November 1980 and the hotel was managed by Meridien Hotels, a subsidiary of Air France.
The Meridien hotel chain was started in 1972 in Paris with the construction of the Meridien Etoile and the chain expanded worldwide with ownership in dozens of luxury hotels.
The Parker Meridien was the first Meridien Hotel in the United States and was the chain's flagship in the USA. By 1986, the Meridien had expanded to Boston, Houston, Montreal, Newport Beach, New Orleans, San Francisco and Vancouver.
In 1987, the Meridien Hotels were rebranded to Le Meridien, as was the Parker Meridien to Le Parker Meridien.
In 1994, Air France, the principal owner of the Meridien Hotels, sold their stake in 58 hotels to Forte, PLC as part of a three-year plan to restructure the airline. The Meridien Hotels were later absorbed into the Starwood Hotel Group in 2005.
The Parker Meridien however, was not part of that sale. Le Parker Meridien and The Parker Palm Springs continue to be wholly owned by the Jack Parker Corporation, founded in 1955.
