Manufacturer: Jackson China
User: Rampart Steak House
Date of bowl: circa 1967 – 1968
Notes: The Rampart Steak House was located at 2031 N.E. 36th Street, Lighthouse Point, Florida. It opened in 1967 under the Shendo of America banner, an organization that already had two other steak houses in Fort Lauderdale. According to an ad in the Fort Lauderdale News dated Feb. 8, 1968, the restaurant offered an eclectic mashup of design and cuisine: "A rare combination of old New Orleans and the Colorful West in a plush, robust Gay Nineties setting."
However, by May 1968, the restaurant was listed for sale, and in October 1968, it was announced that restaurateurs Fred Franke and James Pallatte had acquired the building. After some remodeling, the pair planned to reopen the restaurant and lounge under the same Rampart name by mid-December 1968.
Less than two years later, the Rampart Steak House would be closed, though, and taken over by a restaurant/lounge called the Spot.
White body bowl with a black stripe around the top and a black logo on the side. The logo consists of a stylized bull or steer's head made from a set of horns over the letter "S" formed to vaguely resemble the shape of the bull's head. Under the logo is the word "Rampart" in black block letters contained in a narrow box with pointed ends.
