Notes: "Rolling Rock Club was founded by the Mellon Family in 1917. Richard Beatty Mellon and his son Richard King Mellon turned Rolling Rock into a rural sporting paradise for his friends and family to hunt, fish, and ride. In addition to an 80,000 square foot Clubhouse, golf course, swimming pool and tennis courts, the club also boasts stocked trout streams, duck ponds, upland game birds and clay target shooting ranges. The Club also kept up one of the best United States packs of English fox hounds, raising pheasants, and running the Gold Cup Steeplechase from 1933 until 1983. This Sportsmen's Club is quiet, old-world, conservative, in the tradition of an English Country Manor. Tradition and heritage in a formal but comfortable setting sum up the atmosphere of the club. Rolling Rock is located about 50 miles southeast of Pittsburgh in the Ligonier Valley of southwest Pennsylvania.
The 1,611 member families comprised of social and business leaders from around the nation enjoy quiet country amenities, world-class cuisine, golf, tennis, swimming, trap/skeet, upland bird hunting, and trout fishing. The elegant and traditional clubhouse features numerous outlets for both formal and informal dining. Amenities of the club also include two guest houses and 29 guest rooms."
