Notes: The eight-story concrete-and-steel Royal Pines was built in the early 1920s in Berkeley Township, Ocean County, south of Toms River, and was said to have been frequented by Al Capone. Built at a cost of $1.175 million, it was sold during the Great Depression for $50,000 and converted into a nursing home. In 2008, it serves as the Bayview Convalescent Center.
