Notes: States Restaurant in Chicago was located in the Republic Building, which was on the corner of State and Adams streets. The restaurant advertised that every state was represented by a separate booth. A variety of postcards related to the restaurant (shown above) reflects the live music and various musical acts that performed at the restaurant. When the restaurant opened and closed is not known. However, the first mention of the restaurant found was in the Sept. 8, 1905, issue of the Chicago Englewood Times about a banquet held there. The last mention found was in 1922.
There was also a States Restaurant in San Francisco and a State's/States Restaurant in Philadelphia. It is unlikely there was any connection among the three.
White body plate with two reddish-orange pinstripes around the center of the rim, which are broken at the top of the plate by the placement of the restaurant's logo. This consists of a drawing of a bald eagle standing on the top of shield resembling an American flag. The top third of the shield is light blue with white stars and the bottom two-thirds of the shield is red and white striped. On top of these stripes is a small black circle with block letters "USR" over smaller letters "CO" in a yellow-orange color. There is a scattering of light blue stars and curly lines on both sides of the bald eagle. Over the top of the drawing are the words "The States" in Old English font.
