Manufacturer: Syracuse China
Pattern Border: Chantilly – Syracuse Pattern #P-192
Pattern Border with Center Motif: Syracuse Pattern #P-96
Date of plate: 1936
Notes: Pictured here is the full Quimper-style pattern, which preceded Chantilly. Chantilly, a version of the border of the Quimper-style pattern without the center folk art motif, was introduced circa 1950 and was hand painted. Over time Syracuse developed a hand painted appearance in its decals and eventually discontinued hand decoration. The implication in Reed and Skoczen's Syracuse China book, as noted on pages 165-6, is that this happened in the 1970s. It is very difficult to distinguish between decal and the hand painted versions.
