User: U.S. Army Yankee Division 26th Infantry
Date of plate: Unknown
Notes: This plate with its YD monogram was used by the United States Army's 26th Infantry Yankee Division.
According to the wikipedia, the 26th Infantry Yankee Division was a formation of the Massachusetts Army National Guard – formed in 1917 – and was based in Boston.
The backstamp, J. McD & S., stands for Jones, McDuffee, and Stratton, a Boston, Mass., distributor founded in 1810. According to the company's100th anniversary brochure, it was"the largest wholesale and retail crockery, china, and glassware establishment in the country." The backstamp provides no clue as to the plate's age because the distributor was in business both before and after Carr's run.
