Notes: The Vendome Hotel, on South 4th Street in Minneapolis, opened in 1885. The cafe entrance was on the left end of the building. In July 1912, the Vendome Cafe advertised that it had just reopened under new management. The new manager was H. F. Arnold.

On May 10, 1918, all of the contents of the recently closed Vendome Cafe were sold at auction. Included in this auction were the dishes, tables, chairs and the kitchen equipment.

The Vendome Cafe later reopened and was offering a 75¢ Thanksgiving dinner in 1929 and 1931.

Maddock produced American China crested "Cafe Vendome" in shaded green lettering. Spaced around the rim are brown decal ornaments that were first used by the Cafe Vendome and appear in the Maddock pattern sample book as #8035 "Vendome Border." A green pin line connects the ornaments, with a green line at the rim. Some pieces contain an impressed "American China" back stamp. Other pieces contain a green backstamp that included distributor Boutell Brothers. 8 3/8" x 5 3/4" platters were included in this china service.
