Notes: From Wikipedia: A community located in Philadelphia's Germantown, Alden Park Manor was "built in the Jacobean Revival style" and was founded in 1926. "It was built in a park-like setting on thirty-eight acres that had been the Justus C. Strawbridge estate. It was the first co-operative apartment complex in Philadelphia, although it now operates only as rentals.
"The complex overlooks the Wissahickon Valley section of Fairmount Park in the city's Germantown section. The buildings are surrounded by lawns and gardens, a rarity in the fairly urban setting.
"Alden Park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places in 1981. In the fall of 2015, a private firm bought the property for $59 million and began restorations."
The Alden Park Restaurant (later called the Alden Park Dining Room) was located in the Strawbridge mansion on the grounds of the Alden Park development. The backstamp on the pitcher is dated 1924; however, the article on the plans to build the Alden Park Manor did not appear in the Philadelphia Inquirer until Dec. 7, 1925. In addition, the first want ads for staff do not appear until October 1926, and what appears to be an "opening ad" does not appear until Dec. 7, 1927. The date on the backstamp appears to be a case of new/old stock, where china was bisque fired in one year and then actually used in a subsequent year or years.
The restaurant underwent a renovation in 1961, and in January 1962 there was a note in the Philadelphia Daily News that it was changing its name to the Alden Park Inn. The last mention of the Alden Park Inn was in Dec. 1973.
White body pitcher with a black stripe around the top rim and down the middle of the handle. There is a green band outlined in black around the belly that is broken on the left with the Alden Park logo which consists of a gold shield with a rampart lion facing left. Under the shield is a ribbon with the words "Alden Park" and under the ribbon the word "Manor." On the right, the green band is broken with a vase or basket of flowers and leaves. There is a black pinstripe around the base of the pitcher.
