Notes: The Hotel Astor, located on New York City Times Square, was built by William Waldorf Astor in 1904. It was demolished in 1967. Advertised as "At the Crossroads of the World," it was famous, in part, for its Astor Roof Garden restaurant and performing big dance bands in the 1940s.
