Notes: Located in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the 12-story, 525-room Breakers Hotel opened in 1916. It fronted on the boardwalk at New Jersey Avenue. Directly behind it was the 6-story, 800-room Rudolph, originally built in 1895 and operated by Joel Hillman in 1909. When the Breakers opened it incorporated the older Rudolph section and both operated under the Breakers name. By 1922, Mr. Hillman also operated the Nassau Hotel in Long Beach, Long Island, New York.

The Warwick China version of this border pattern features a single red rose with dark green leaves set within a crimson red line frame. A band of dark green geometric shapes, outlined in crimson red, connects the framed rose panels with an outer crimson red rim line border.

This pattern also was produced with slight variations by Syracuse China and Maddock Pottery Company. Syracuse China created custom border design (#71001) especially for the Breakers. On the Warwick China pattern the rose is reversed from the way it appears on both the Syracuse China and Maddock Pottery Co. versions.
