Manufacturer: Carr China Company
User: Sample Plate – M145 – 6
Date of plate: circa 1934 – 1937
Notes: Nothing is known about this pattern other than what is shown on the backstamp: Standard Sample M145 – 6
Although this plate does not have the handwritten "M" that appears on other known Mattson samples, we believe that the M shown in the backstamped sample number stands for Paul C. Mattson, who was a designer for Carr China from 1934 to 1937. The border decoration seems similar to other Mattson designs that can be seen in the Carr China – Paul C. Mattson Collection on the idwiki2.
White body plate with a black band, with top and bottom black pinstripes, around the rim. The band is broken at the top, bottom, and both sides by a vertical black oval with a steaming cup of coffee or tea inside.
