READING YMCA. Dinnerware was used at the railroad's several YMCA's. In 1946 they were located at Reading, Rutherford, Tamaqua, Newberry Jct., Wilsmere, DE, Spring Garden St., Philadelphia (passenger crews) and Port Richmond, Philadelphia (freight crews). The Port Richmond "Y" continued to operate for a time under Conrail. At least nine different pieces are known to exist; marked flatware complemented the china. Never backstamped."
The YMCA located at 645 North 6th Street in Reading, PA was built by the Reading Company in 1896. This "Y" closed in 1969 and became the home of the Hope Rescue Mission.
