Manufacturer: Shenango China
Stock Pattern: Katy Ornaments
Date of creamer: 1954-63; date of monotone green plate: 1920s – early 1950s
Notes: Most commonly referred to asKaty Ornaments, this stock pattern was a popular Art Nouveau pattern made by many manufacturers. The version made by Shenango is known to have been used by the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (Katy) Railroad, hence the name, Katy Ornaments. Shenango's true name for the pattern is unknown.
Other known manufacturers of the pattern include Mayer (known as Cairo); J. & G. Meakin Potteries (Dorothy), Syracuse and Scammell.
Unless it was made by Shenango or Syracuse, it was not used on the railroad, and even then it would be unlikely that any individual piece saw railroad service.
Do not confuse with Depot Ornaments!
The creamer has a white body with a double green line border connecting Art Nouveau pendants in green and light brown on Shenango's WelRoc, RimRol body. The plate, also on a white body, has the Art Nouveau decoration but in a monotone green.
