Albert Moore and Emmet McCormack founded the company with just $5,000 in capital. It later offered cargo service to Scandinavian ports and began passenger service in 1932, with destinations in South America and the Mediterranean, to name a few. Ships included S.S. Argentina and S.S. Brasil. The S.S. Meredith Victory, along with sister ships Mormacmoon and Hunter Victory, performed a rescue operation of nearly 100,000 South Korean refugees during the Korean War in 1950. The fleet was purchased by Holland America Lines in 1972.
