Notes: From the Pig'n Whistle website, the first Pig'n Whistle sandwich shop in the South opened in Georgia in 1928. Later in that year, more locations opened and "could be found from Atlanta to Jacksonville, Florida, with the most notable location being in Macon, Georgia. According to the Pig'n Whistle Facebook group, there were locations for this Southern Pig'n Whistle restaurant in at least five states. In addition to Georgia and Florida, there were restaurants in Texas, Alabama and Louisiana. It appears they started as sandwich shops specializing in pork barbecue in the late 1930s and were later expanded to drive-ins with car hop service and were open at least into the 1960s.
